About Me
I am Krystle Briese, MA, LMFT, RPT - a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT92544) and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (S3412).
I have two school-aged children and an older bonus daughter with two littles of her own. I am an aunt to twelve children, who I affectionately refer to as my niblings while they call me tía - some are pictured to the side. I love animals and currently have a cat (Nebula, a siamese) at home. I am a child of divorce, have a stepparent and am one as well. I am the child of a Navy veteran and a Mexican immigrant, born here in sunny San Diego at our local naval hospital (Balboa - right across from the San Diego Zoo!). I speak both English and Spanish. I use she/her pronouns and consider my therapy office a safe place for those in the LGBT+ community. I strive to be anti-racist and believe that every person (regardless of gender or ethnic identity) deserves to have equal rights and opportunities.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California Davis, followed by a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with Spanish BCLAD and a Master of Arts in Education from the same university. After teaching elementary aged children for a few years I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and I later earned my certification for Play Therapy from the University of California San Diego Extension. I am a member of the Association for Play Therapy and have served on the board for the San Diego Chapter of the California Association for Play Therapy, where I worked with other play therapists to help provide trainings for and network with providers who work with children.
Every October I will be gone for one week to attend the national play therapy conference. It will take place in Atlanta, Georgia for 2024 and Houston, Texas for 2025.
I have previously worked for Moreno Valley Unified School District, Chula Vista Elementary School District, San Diego Hospice, Phoenix House, New Alternatives, Inc., and Psychiatric Centers at San Diego. I previously volunteered with Love on a Leash with my therapy dog, Luna, where we would visit hospitals, schools, libraries, universities and more. I currently volunteer with Girl Scouts San Diego as a leader for my daughter's Girl Scout troop and as the Service Unit Registrar for the Lakeside Service Unit.
